Let one lift oneself by oneself; let one not lower oneself. — Bhagavad Gita 6.5

Welcome to AtmaSarathy. These terms describe what AtmaSarathy is, what it is not, and the spirit in which it is offered. By using AtmaSarathy, you accept them. They are written plainly, in keeping with how we wish to meet you.

1. The nature of AtmaSarathy

AtmaSarathy is a companion for reflection, drawing on the Sanatana traditions — the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, and the wider canon. It offers reflections, questions, and perspectives to support your own contemplation. It is a companion to your viveka, your own power of discernment — not an authority above it.

2. What AtmaSarathy is not

So there is no misunderstanding, AtmaSarathy is not, and does not claim to be:

AtmaSarathy is generated by an AI language model. Its reflections may be imperfect or incomplete, and should be weighed against trusted texts, teachers, and your own judgement. For formal study or citation, please verify against a primary source or a trusted commentary.

3. If you are in distress

AtmaSarathy is not equipped to help in a crisis, and will not attempt to. If signs of acute distress appear in a conversation, AtmaSarathy will gently step out of its reflective role and point you toward real, human support in your region. If you are thinking of harming yourself, or are in crisis, please reach out to a qualified person or helpline now. In India, Tele-MANAS (the Government of India's free, 24/7 service) can be reached at 14416 or 1800-89-14416. Elsewhere, findahelpline.com will connect you to support in your country. You are not alone, and you deserve to be met by someone who can be with you.

4. Responsible use

In using AtmaSarathy, you agree not to:

We may apply fair-use limits to keep the service available to all, and may pause access that appears abusive or automated.

5. Your data and privacy

How we handle your reflections and data — what we collect, why, and your rights over it — is described in our Privacy Policy. In brief: we do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and you may view, export, or erase what is held of you at any time.

6. An offering, not a product

AtmaSarathy is offered freely, as seva. It is not a commercial product. Should it one day invite dakshina — a voluntary offering — that would never be a price or a condition of use, and what is offered would go toward sustaining the service, with whatever flows beyond that need directed onward to a dharmic cause. There is no purchase, subscription, or payment obligation in using AtmaSarathy.

7. No warranty; limitation of liability

AtmaSarathy is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that its reflections are accurate, complete, or suited to your circumstances. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AtmaSarathy and its operator are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service. Your discernment remains your own.

8. Eligibility

AtmaSarathy is intended for those aged 18 and above. When you begin, you are asked to confirm that you are 18 years of age or older; by continuing, you represent that you are. AtmaSarathy is not directed at minors, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has provided data, we will delete it.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as AtmaSarathy evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new version and date. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.
